Li's Blog: Salt Spring's foodie revolution well, eat local.

Salt Spring's foodie revolution well, eat local.

Salt Spring Island showcases a foodie paradise. Yes, the Island has long been famed for being an authentic artists colony...and that is important to the rhythm of the lifestyle.

The many agricultural pursuits now underway on this essentially rural environment are amazing, too.

Check out the Saturday Market and the Tuesday Farmers Markets, frequent the many farmgate stands, get onto a farmer's list for regular produce...the "cool Mediterranean" micro-climate on Salt Spring encourages myriad vegetable and berry fruit crops, grapes (3 wineries on Island), the orchards (cideries here), organic hops (craft brewery), olive grove...nut trees...the earth awaits the farmers ideas.

In Harvest season, September/October, the Island presents the agricultural outcomes at Fall Fair, at Sip & Savour, at special menu dinners at the island's several fine restaurants.

To eat well, with local organic be inspired by creative endeavours (painters, potters, actors, singers, musicians, fabric artists, sculptors, poets), to be a part of a preserved natural world...lucky Salt Springers!
