"Time out" to observe, really "see", Nature...the best way to recharge!

Scenic Gulf Island photo

How often do we forget to "look"?    Muddling along in our own worlds, busy in our heads with our agendas, we rarely get beyond our skins and "really look" at our surroundings.

No matter where we live, whether in a rural calm or in a purposeful city, there is beauty constantly around us...patterns of light through an office window, splashing onto desks, or sky reflecting from rain puddles, or a butterfly hovering above a flowering plant, or a sunset over the ocean, or a moonrise across a lake.....it can be anything, anywhere, but are we "looking"?

The 21st Century seems to be about "always", no time, always time, time erased, with the demands that this kind of immediacy brings to all aspects of life.    Up to us, then, to remember to take time "out", and one way to do this kind of recharging is to really pay attention to our surrounding world.

A change is as good as a rest, goes the old adage.    A pushing out from our immediate skins, getting out of our busy little minds, and truly viewing our surround sound, even for five minutes, can make all the difference to our equilibrium.    Isn't this what meditators have been saying for eons?

Every day, take five!

Li, I always try to take a moment (or more!) during every day to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. You are right, today's world has us on overdrive, it is nice to appreciate the life we are so fortunate to live!

Li,

You have some awesome views here in BC.  I like your 'take five' and will pass it along to my students this week.  Real Estate can become so all encompassing that we burn out if we don't learn to 'take five' once in awhile.

Thanks for being a friend.

Li, You have an amazing backdrop that is to be appreciated. It's relaxing just to think of being there!

Hi, Wanda...always appreciate your comments!    I know I'm lucky, too, to live in such a "beauty" area.
