June 6, 2011.
On this day, many long years ago, a formidable battle was underway...now known as D Day, and memorialized in countless films, including The Longest Day, this was the beginning of the end of the Nazi occupation of Europe. Known as the Second World War, this day saw courage, fortitude, selflessness, among many emotions.
Perhaps you may have had a relative involved in this day's events?
Even if your knowledge is only via documentaries, still playing on Knowledge Network or the Military Channel or National Geographic or Biography, or other such special interest options, it is always good to pause in our days, to look around and to be appreciative of the sacrifices made by many unknown soldiers, to preserve our way of life.
What is it we just take for granted today, that was ensured for us those many years ago?
A thank you is always a good thing to offer.
