Ah...early summer! The wild roses are out, the hay is ripening, and the grapes are burgeoning on the vines....
I often feel as if my tiny island area holds all elements within its embrace...yes, the sea surrounds us, but it's also about the land, and the hills and fields create a pleasing topography.
At this time of year, on the famously "wet coast", we do get a lot of grey skies, and rain showers are a fact of life between November and early February. Snow is rare, but the greyness of winter is definitely a feature of the entire Pacific Northwest Coast region.
When people move to the Pacific Coast, from wintery climes "back east", they often remember the bright sunny days, in spite of the snow and cold, and it can take a few seasons to "grow their gills", and become Pacific Coast dwellers.
Nice, then, to ponder photos of the summer moment, before the harvest, when everything has just exploded into life and fullness and pleasure...ah, early summer is the best! I can't wait!
And your thoughts are? Always welcome....
