Looking for a great space to enjoy a coffee and a "goodie"??? Salt Spring is lucky to have several! Give yourself a treat, and enjoy a "sweetie" out and about.
Rendezvous Cafe is in the Salt Spring Marina complex, facing over towards Moby's and the marina docks. Owned by Bruno and Brigitte (you may remember them from the Saturday Market in the Park, during the "season", and from the Tuesday Farmer's Market in Ganges Village, also "in the season"), this wonderful hint of France, in "downtown Ganges", is not to be missed. Time it for a great quiche, right out of the oven, and enjoy the pastries that Brigitte is justifiably famous for. They do special orders (ask to see the book of suggestions), and they also cater. Practice your French, admire Bruno's great photographs (on the wall), and soak up the European flair along with the delicious bakery goodies, a la francaise!
Another super spot is Cafe Talia, on Hereford Avenue. Light lunches, coffees and teas, plus pastries (some suipplied by Brigitte). A lovely window on the world. Winter hours are Tuesday to Saturday, and, in the "season", they're open seven days a week.
Salt Spring Inn is offering Afternoon Tea on Tuesdays, 1 to 4 p.m. Enjoy!
Auntie Pesto's, in Grace Point Square, also offers coffees/teas & desserts, as does the Tree House Cafe, adjacent to Mouat's Home Hardware.
T.J. Beans, Salt Spring Roasting Company, Barb's Buns...all in the Ganges core area, also offer treats for coffee or afternoon tea times.
Give yourself a treat!
While in the Village, wander the galleries, and check out the opportunities for some holiday gift giving.
Jill Louise Campbell's Gallery offers cards and appealing prints for those gift suggestions! If you haven't dropped by for awhile, be sure to take in this wonderful ambiance.
Jewellery items can be found at Frankly Scarlett, and at J. Mitchell Gallery (local artists, here).
The Salty Shop offers cards and stocking stuffer ideas.
West of the Moon is a great children's store, with books and toys.
Salt Spring Soapworks is there with boudoir beauties!
Small items are also available at the Salt Spring Woodworks location at the corner of Upper Ganges and Churchill Roads (these are the people who organized the great Sculpture Garden, that also involved Hastings House).
Houseboat, at the corner of Jackson and Hereford Avenues is full of decorative ideas, too. Don't overlook this eclectic venue.
Windlflower Moon, next door to Admiralty Foods, on Fulford-Ganges Road, offers the metaphysical options, gems and flower remedies, and eclectic clothing lines. Lots of ideas for gifts, here, too.
More suggestions? Ask for "Li's List"!
Your ideas? Always welcome!
