Sunday on Salt Spring, in the "off season". It's not raining, although the day is a "pewter grey" (that burnished light behind the clouds). The Village is busy, people strolling, some stores are open (Sunday hours), brunch is on at several restaurants, and those who were active in helping with the civic elections are resting up (election was yesterday). The incumbent trustees were returned, and we have a new CRD director. The proposal to increase the number of trustees for Salt Spring was defeated, and the proposal to increase the solid waste project in Burgoyne Bay Valley was passed. The usual Salt Spring balancing act, perhaps? This morning, while looking out the window, towards the sea, an eagle landed on a nearby tree. We were at eye level with each other. A majestic bird, indeed. He was probably scanning for his next meal, and I'm sure he saw me, too. How nice when one can regard nature, and from inside a warm house. A Sunday rhythm is definitely a quieter one, in this Island lifestyle.
