So...the year winds down with turmoil continuing.
The U.S. has left Iraq. Now the commentators can decide whether the past 8 years have been worth it. At the same time, we have the continuing unrest in Europe...the eurozone struggle to remain an economic base, with the threat of the demise of the euro experiment always in the background.
The emphatic growth of Asia is an undertone. The Arab Spring revolutions, the global occupy movements, the Russian population's response to an orchestrated election, change in North Korea...the Twitter opportunity makes it possible for those on the street to have a voice equal to the powers in place, if technology is a part of their culture.
Hmmm. Every aspect of our lives is under stress, as changed terrain demands changed responses.
A desire for a safe haven, whether personally or as a way to preserve capital, may be the motivator behind some sudden luxury priced sales in secondary home/discretionary/unique areas...certainly, these sales are happening after a good three years of "flatness". Fine Art and unique jewelry auctions are also capturing prices far above guesstimates. A flight from cash?
It's a very active ground that we walk upon these days...volatility in all spheres is the surround sound of our times. Did I say Age of Insecurity?
So important to back away from the tunnel vision encouraged by the constant media coverage, to lift our heads and to practice our periphery vision...out there, on the edges of our field of vision, shimmers the creative response....
In change lies opportunity.
We just have to be looking for it!
