Changes, changes...applies to villages & towns, too!

Ganges Harbour

Nothing stays the same...of course, we all know that!

Interesting, though, that shifts are occurring on Salt Spring, and with the fabric of what we were used to definitely "recreating".

Take Fulford Village:

At end of this month, Patterson's Store will close for good. Will be interesting to see what turns up on this commercially zoned parcel in the future. Means, though, that it will require a trip to Ganges for groceries and for gas.

Fulford Pub has been closed for some time...will there be a new vision created on this valuable commercially zoned "corner" property?

The Fulford Marina and building sits vacant, as well.

Swartz-Fulford is the main ferry gateway to Salt Spring for most visitors.

What about Vesuvius? Well, the once vibrant Vesuvius Pub has been closed for a very long time...will it ever reopen, in some form?

The Crofton-Vesuvius ferry run is the second busiest entry point to Salt Spring Island.

And Ganges? A mini-building boom is underway: the third phase of Creekhouse/Creekside development is well underway...perhaps the tenants will be in their new premises by Christmas!

The new Library has begun construction on McPhillips Avenue, too...a definite "hub" of the Village, and a cohesive knitting up of McPhillips, right from Lower Ganges to Jackson...definitely the second busy street in Ganges Village's "rhythm".

On Rainbow, just before Jackson corner, new construction will offer both retail and office space. With the opening of the Co-Op gas station at corner of Rainbow and Jackson, and the upgrades by Co-Op group, the "business" pattern of the seaside village does seem to be in the direction of Rainbow...perhaps it's the linking of the seaside and upper villages?

My real estate office is at the corner of Lower Ganges and Rainbow Roads, with parking behind (off Rainbow)...right across from the Ganges Marina and the steps to the park/boardwalk, my office enjoys a great Harbour view! Pop by and say hello, pick up all the latest real estate information, and when you're ready, let's go view some property opportunities! Thank you!
