Mother's Day coming up...among other things!

Spoil Mom this weekend...special brunch offering: at beautiful Hastings House! Special dinner menu at Bocados Bistro, in Grace Point Square. Enjoy Calvin's, or Harbour House Hotel...lots of great options, to fete Mom, who is the lynchpin in so many of our lives...a big thank you!

In business? Join the Salt Spring Chamber!

If you run a B & B, or a restaurant, or a gallery, or a food outlet, or a coffee/tea option, or a bookstore, or a clothing store, or a financial offering, or a cheese shop, or have a stall at the Saturday Market, or are on the home studio tour, or create fabrics for designers, or offer spa services, or sports equipment, or anything that serves tourism, or a jewelry creator, or a service provider, or someone who creates a digital concept, or...you get the drift! Creation combined with marketing equals a sales situation: connecting a seller with a buyer means you're in business.

The voice for business in B.C. Is the Chamber of Commerce. In our unincorporated area, governed by the Islands Trust, it's even more essential to belong to the Chamber, and to support its endeavors...volume of membership is the key.

Get involved in the community...your input is needed!

Check out our four terrific bookstores: Volume 2, down by the Coast Guard Dock (where the floatplanes land); Black Sheep Books (at the entrance to Grace Point Square); Salt Spring Books (on McPhilips Avenue, adjacent to TJ Beans coffee house); Watermark Books (on McPhilips Avenue, adjacent to Salt Spring Roasters coffee house).

Ever read the Wallander series, by Swedish writer Henning Mankell? Try this series...if you enjoyed Ian Rankin's Rebus series or Peter Robinson's Alan Banks series, you'll like these, too.

Ah...sun, lolling on a deck or patio, reading a mystery...must be "almost Summer", right?

Enjoy the pleasures of the May season....
