One of the real "plus" aspects is the wildlife that one encounters...like this deer family, plodding past, minding their own business while a showing is underway.
Sometimes, Orca whales leap into the air, and smash back into the waves, seeking salmon...sometimes salmon are running, and that's an amazing thing, indeed...or a herring boil rolls into a harbour and out again.
Seals, otters, sea lions...occasionally a grey whale bulks by...

Eagles, osprey (a haunting musical cry), gulls of course, geees and myriad ducks...after awhile, one almost doesn't see it all, as it's just the "surround sound" of my region.
Sort of like a great view...after awhile, you don't notice it!
How wonderful, though, when returning from a daytrip to the city, to say hello to the deer who haunt my neigbhourhood..."hello, sweet deer" I say as I trundle packages to my door...I can see them there, in the forest...they don't run away. Do they answer back?
Hmm.....
