Great time to consider becoming a member of the renewed Chamber of Commerce...drop into the Chamber office (lower level of Tourist Centre) & speak with Manager, Janet Clouston.
I think everyone on Salt Spring is in business...a retail business is an obvious one, but anyone providing a service or an item is in business! The Chamber is the platform to lobby the government on behalf of business in a community, & is also the conduit for any funding opportunities.
Tourism, accommodations, restaurants, purveyors of items at the Saturday Market, musicians, excavator operators, construction & other trades, architects, designers, farmers, boat, car, scooter rentals, studio tours, artists, crafters, communications (radio, newspaper, digital options)...you name it, if you're selling it & need a customer, then you're in business!
I think we would all agree that tourism in a secondary home region is the engine that drives business...it starts with that. It's only the beginning, though....
A new pricing structure at the Chamber allows you to choose the membership package that works for you...ask Janet to explain pricings (affordable!) & specific benefits of membership.
We are not a municipality, which means the Island could miss out on some localized benefits...here's where the Chamber comes into its own. It's your voice/your platform!
See you at the next mixer...in community there is strength. In these economically trying times, let's work together and build a strong community with an active business core...it's the driver to a community's well-being.
First event needing you on board? Blossom Festival! Volunteers needed...let's have some fun!
How may I help you to discover special Salt Spring Island & the Southern Gulf Islands? Call me!
