Late September events on lovely Salt Spring Island!

Live music continues at Tree House Cafe, as they wind down their 111 Nights of Music extravaganza....   Tonight, enjoy Sara Brudner, & Friday catch Julia Beattie.   Saturday, it's The Coalition, and Tuesday brings forward Open Stage with David Jacquest.   Wednesday, enjoy The Carpenters.   

Be a part of the talented and eclectic Salt Spring Folk Club season:  first concert is Oct 17th, showcasing Roy Forbes....this is a series not to be missed!

Friday, catch the opening at Mahon Hall...called Attachments, this artists exhibition runs till Oct 2nd.    Open daily, 10 to 5 p.m.     A very extensive lineup of artistic creation & inspiration here....don't miss it!

Ah...the wildly talented Scott Hylands performs in a drama by D.L. Coburn...The Gin Game.   Directed by Lynda Jensen and co-starring Sue Newman, this is a theatrical event to be a part of!  At ArtSpring, October 5 to 8...or, is it a comedy?   Worth finding out, definitely!

The Geezers play ArtSpring on Sept 24th..."Trust Us" Laugh...be there!    8 p.m.

Salt Spring poet and author Diana Hayes celebrates the book launch/reading from her new work: called Moon's Work.    Saturday, Sept 24th, doors open at 7:30 and event starts at 8 p.m., at Lion's Hall...hosted by Mother Tongue Publishing & Salt Spring Theatre Alive.   See you there!

Tonight, ArtSpring presents Darren Sigesmund, concert beginning at 8 p.m.  

Sip & Savour, the first annual event, sponsored by Salt Spring's Chamber of Commerce, invites foodies to an Island feast experience.    Friday, 6:30 onward, enjoy a seven-course feast from the gardens, farms, waters of Salt Spring Island...perfectly paired with Salt Spring wines, at Hastings House.   Saturday, catch the Grazing Experience at Harbour House Hotel: growers, chefs, vintners work together as trios to create tasting plates.   Over 20 B.C. wineries will be present.     Purchase tickets online (www.sipandsavoursaltspring.com) or phone (250-537-8320), in person at Salt Spring Chamber office, & at participating local retailers (Salt Spring Books is one).    Partial proceeds will be donated to Salt Spring Agricultural Alliance and the Island Natural Growers to support local, sustainable farming on Salt Spring Island.    Take part!

Details soon about the February Literary Festival...one of the planned events, a joint sponsorship between Community Ed and the Salt Spring Chamber of Commerce: Dine with a Writer.   This will take place in January, as a prelude to the literary festival.   Great idea!

Wow...how time evaporates!   This is the second anniversary of Salt Spring Gallery of Fine Art, on McPhillips Avenue...join the gallery artists to celebrate, at their reception, from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday.   Great space, amazingly talented artists...a co-op venture with flair!

Live music venues:  Harbour House Hotel, Moby's, Treehouse Cafe, Salt Spring Inn with the Barley Brothers on Saturday evening, Stonehouse Pub...great musicians call Salt Spring home.    Something for everyone, here....    P.S.   Barley Brothers also play at the docks, for the Work Boat group.

Congratulations to Gillian McConnell...awarded first prize at The Underlying Spirit, a show which celebrated the influence of Emily Carr, presented at Victoria's Madrona Gallery.   Well done!
