I always think the "audience" is a part of every endeavour, whether artistic or farming. The producer is one side of the equation, and the recipient is the other.
There is joy in growing things from seed, and an excellent lesson to small children, too, in the value of being self-sufficient. Also, in the pleasure of creating something from start to finish. Life lessons can be learned in a garden!
