thoughts in nature, while showing property...

September carries so many associations with it, of endings and of beginnings, and in my area, it can still be an "almost summer" experience.    This weekend, though, is truly the real onset of Fall.     Walking undeveloped land properties today, with a couple from Toronto, Ontario, it's warm enough to be just in a shirt/light jeans, and the sun is out.    The long bleached grasses on the properties, some Maples turning gold/brown and some not, the unchanging aspect of the fir and cedar forests, and the arbutus groves, the blue glimmer of the ocean vistas...it was some half-changed moment, between summer and "Fall", and it was totally beautiful.    Reminded me to be grateful for nature's gifts to us.    On one property, we disturbed a family of deer (three points on the buck, plus fawns and a doe -- a family?), and eagles were soaring in the downdrafts, overhead.    So many issues, problems, worries afoot in the world right now, and I feel so lucky to be living in this rural/pastoral gem of an area, on the "soft climate" Pacific Northwest Coast, surrounded by beauty that resides beyond our daily human concerns and cares.    Sort of like a "walking meditation"?     Made me realize anew how important it is to turn off t.v., to close down the computer, to ignore the Blackberry, and to take a walk in the "park" (wherever your green spaces are).    There are two worlds: ours and that of Nature.    It's a gift when they collide for a moment.

How may I help you to discover special Salt Spring Island & the Southern Gulf Islands?   Call me!
