Extend the helping hand, whenever possible....

The river of life....

I no longer remember where I read that evocative phrase.

We observe, right now, a selfless individual serving of the greater good, in Japan, as workers continue to struggle to bring the earthquake struck reactors out of dangerous nuclear radiation levels.

It is a mission that will inevitably deliver a death sentence to these people.

We watch from the safety of our living rooms, as endless cable news loops update us, and I wonder how many of us can visualize the fear, the darkness, the destruction of buildings, the explosions, the descent into hell...and yet, they persist in "doing their jobs".

And they are sublimating their life for the lives of others.

It reminds one of the courageous people who rushed into the twin towers on 9/11, to save others....

We are all prisoners of our time, for sure, but courage...the placing of greater good above individual response...inspiring is too calm a word. There are no words to adequately honour such generous people.

A wish to help out? Contact the Red Cross...it guarantees that what you are able to offer will reach those in need. Unbelievably, scams are an issue, even at such a desperate time!

Meantime, remember to be kind to those in our immediate circle...that is another way to honour such sacrifice.
