Explorations....

Property Photo

This must have been what early explorers experienced, when they discovered the Salish Sea....

In this misty moment, it's easy to ignore our knowledge of houses and development, just outside the frame of this photo.

The Pacific Northwest Coast is all about sea, and sky, and the racing green colour of the conifer forest, here.   Cedar, Hemlock, Fir...and in the Southern Coast of Vancouver Island and on the Southern Gulf Islands, pockets of Garry Oak and Madrona (Arbutus) groves.

I wonder what the sparsely settled tribal culture of the then island inhabitants thought, when they viewed the square sails of the sailing vessels of the 18th Century, drifting into view.

It must have seemed, initially, to be of little consequence, with no impact to be possible on their way of life.

Hmmm...is that what's going on right now, with our post-internet 21st Century world?

Explorers of the mind map are in our lives, pushing the boundaries of our tiny enclaves to include the entire world.    A global village is a concept that we pay lip service to, but I'm not sure that we really understand the impact of same.

Meantime, back to the drawing board, in my effort to become less of a hybrid being and one more at ease in the flow of the information sea that is shaping our world.

And your thoughts are?    Always welcome!
