So, today is known as Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year?
Apparently, it's a mix of "let down" after the lights/activity of the holiday season, plus the bills arriving re all that expenditure, plus the dreadful weather that January delivers to most locations, that makes us all want to turn into bears and go hibernate somewhere.
Best advice? Get moving! Take a walk, briskly, breathing deeply. Work out, if you're a gym person. Enjoy a warming meal...stew or exceptional soup or the very best macaroni and cheese in the world. The idea is to enjoy "comfort food". Yours is chocolate popcorn? Go for it!
A change is as good as a rest, so they say, whoever "they" are. Makes sense, though. Do something a little different, just for you, and you will be surprised how this elevates the mood.
Doesn't hurt to look at a strangely funny film, while eating that popcorn. For me, that would be Cold Comfort Farm or Stranger than Fiction.
The main thing is to remember that our attitude shapes our lives. A tiny little moment of "blue" is ok, as long as the habit we're aiming for is looking for that door in the wall, the one that someone wallpapered over...you know it's there...keep searching!
Ah...you're through. Sunny, right?
