I truly appreciated the recognition of sales achievement for 2010...am now a member of the Medallion Club, the top 10 percent of the 10,000 member Vancouver Real Estate Board.
Sales awards are for a particular year, the year of the achievement, and that is why one sees the Award name, plus the year, always joined.
If a realtor advertises a general sales award, without the specific award year acknowledged, then it has no meaning and they are in contravention of Board "rules".
MLS listings are geography specific...no matter the Board affiliation of a realtor, the listing is always placed in the geographical location of the listed property.
The Southern Gulf Islands are considered "gray areas", between the Vancouver and Victoria Boards. It's a company/realtor decision as to Board affiliation. The property listing, though, is always in the geographical area -- a Salt Spring listing is under the Salt Spring category, always.
After 18 years in the Victoria Board system, I am now happy to be a part of the larger Vancouver Board affiliation...it's about expanded awareness for our Gulf Islands/Salt Spring Island area, and that does bring qualified buyers, and strong referral opportunities.
