Nobody likes change...

Change means we have to shift around our established thought patterns, have to let go of this idea that we are somehow in charge.   Pretty scary.   Letting go is not easy.   Easier to try to stuff the past into the future, while we are still mired in the present.  Change.   It will always force us to be thinking of new ways to be.

I have always thought that real estate agents are especially able to model out successful change solutions.   Most of us came to the business from other worlds, other business backgrounds.   We are still in the business because it gives us endless opportunity to be creatively in the now.   Realtors were probably first to see the advantages of websites for marketing, and then for social media as a way to present personality, along with marketing product (yes, listings are our inventory, our product).

When we come out of this social distancing/self-isolation reaction to a health crisis, we may find a total online world awaiting us.   Realtors have an opportunity here to consider what that really means.   We are connectors.   We are bridges between two different people...a buyer and a seller.   PropTech will be useful, but it's only a tool.   We already use lots of tools that we never even thought about in 2008.

So...change.   Maybe it's just about giving ourselves permission to put on our creative socks when we get up in the morning.   Yes, it's scary to consider...risk is always scary...but think of the outcome: endless possiblity.    Let's just assume that our fear of failure is self-imposed, that it actually has no reality.  Will that make it a tiny bit easier to jump into change?  It's happening anyway...better to get in now?

Sometimes, a little imbibing of Mommy Nature's charms can make change a little easier?   And your thoughts are?   Always welcome!

Summer-summer sings a siren song at this time of year. In the middle of summer, swimming and kayaking and sailing, it's impossible to believe that the earth will soon freeze and snow appear. In the middle of winter, I simply do not believe that… more
